All 406 MHz PLB Devices Transmit A 'Unique Identifier Number' (UIN) When Activated.

A 'UIN' Is Assigned To A Specific Country, And Is Programmed Into A PLB Device Before Leaving The Manufacturer.

PLB Registration Provides The Search And Rescue (SAR) Forces With Personal Emergency Related Information, Which Is Placed Into The Systems Emergency-Response Database.  When The PLB Is Activated, This Database Record Is Called Up And The Information Aids In A More Effective Rapid Rescue Response Operation For That Specific User; And The Potential Emergency Situation!

The 'National Authorities' Use The Information To Verify If An Actual Emergency Exists.  Valuable Search And Rescue Resources Are Wasted Every Year, Responding To False Alarms And Foolish Individuals!   For PLB Devices That Are Not Registered, SAR Authorities Will Not Know Who Is In Need Of Rescue, Nor Who To Contact Regarding Additional Information Of The Current Situation!  This Could Delay The Launch Of A Rescue Operation And Cost A Life!

How Can I Register My 406 MHz PLB?

A PLB Should Be Register By The Person Who Will Be Wearing The System (The Owner).  The PLB Should Be Registered With The 'National Authority' Associated With The Country Code Programmed Into The PLB's ID Code.

Register The PLB Online With The 'Cospas-Sarsat IBRD', IF Your Country Does Not Provide A Registration Facility, And Your Country Has Not Disallowed Registration In The IBRD (International Beacon Registration Database).
