Software Developers Have Adopted The 'NMEA' Standard To Take Advantage Of All The Available Data That The NMEA Standard Provides For.

Many Laptop Computers Today And Low-End Consumer Desktop PCs, Do Not Come With A RS-232 Serial Port.  The Personal Computer Industry Has Now Adopted The Use Of The Intel 'USB' Serial Connection Standard.   This USB Standard Specifies Completely Different Physical, Electrical And Data-Format Standards From The RS-232 Serial Port Standard.   The Two Serials Are Not Compatible In Any Way.  Today's Consumer Laptops And Cheaply-Made Desktop PCs, Now Come With USB Ports, And No RS-232 Serial Ports.

User Note: A Flaw Within Microsoft Windows, Requires The User To First Plug The Interface Into The Computer's USB Port And Allow The Windows Operating System To Recognize The Interface.   After The Microsoft Windows Program Has Recognized The Device And Loads The Software Driver Automatically, The GPS Device Can Be Connected To The Interface, Or Turned On If Already Connected.

This Is A Problem With All These Types Of Interfaces We Have Found In Retail Stores And Tested In Our Computer Technology Lab.
