| "Light" is the term used to describe human-visible radiant energy. Radiant energy is referred to in wavelengths. The light we all see, is a tiny portion of a large range of radiant-energy wavelengths know to the world's scientific communities.
Infrared light, ultraviolet light, Gamma rays, X-rays, microwaves and "radio waves" are names given to other radiant energy wavelengths; and all call can be considered "invisible light" to a human eye.
Human eyes can detect a tiny range of visible wavelengths. These visible wavelengths are actually color. The shortest wavelengths are blue, and the longest wavelengths are red.
The human eye senses the wavelength and translates it to a never signal sent to a special section of the brain, where our minds perceive it as a color. Further processing by specialized sections of the mind, translates the incoming color and shapes into recognized objects, and images.
Violet color has a wavelength of about 0.4 micron, yellow colors around 0.6 microns, red colors around 0.65 microns in length. Human eyes cannot see a wavelength longer than 0.7 microns. |

'IR' Remote Controls Use This Range Of Infrared Light Waves. The "Auto-Focus" Feature Of Many Cameras, Camcorders, Video Cameras, And Other Devices Use This Range Of Infrared Light Waves.
Next are the "near infrared" wavelengths at 2.4 microns.
Longer infrared wavelengths are emitted by hot objects, and have thermal properties. Humans can detect these wavelengths as heat.
There are many types of devices to detect and measure infrared light.
Since Infrared Light Is Radiant Energy, It Has The Same Properties As Human-Visible Light. Therefore Infrared Light Can Be Focused, Reflected, Aligned With Optics, And Polarized, Like Human Visible Light.
