For Those Who Prefer To Outfit
Themselves, We Offer Our Extended Expertise General
Knowledge; Often Copied By Others; But Not Backed By Our
Years Of Service As A Dealership And One Of The Largest
Distributors In Our Field Of Expertise! The two
biggest factors are snow conditions and total weight of
user, including all foreseen and predictable pack, gear and
food. It is best to wear the shortest shoe that
will still provide enough flotation. The shorter the
shoe, the easier it is to maneuver with. The main
outstanding advantage of the MSR Denali Ascent and Denali
Classic Snowshoes is the ability to purchase the shorter
snowshoe, and have the ability to extend it at any future
time; and while on the move in practical use.

What Are MSR Snowshoes Made Of?
The platform material of snow-shedding
co-polymer is made of polyethylene and polypropylene that is
very tough, even in sub-freezing temperatures. The crampons
are made of hardened steel that will outlast aluminum five
times to one. The Traction Bars are also made of the same
hardened steel. The steel is powder coated to prevent snow
from sticking.

MSR
Snowshoe Sizing Recommendations
This MSR provided snowshoe
sizing chart, serves as an approximate guide
to flotation requirements.
For snowshoeing on firm snow or
established snowshoe trails, MSR recommends using
our standard 22" MSR snowshoes for all weight
ranges. This size will provide more than
enough flotation, plus it will be lighter and more
nimble than larger models.
If you spend the majority of
your time snowshoeing in softer and deeper snow, MSR
recommends adding our optional tails to the Denali
and Evo models or moving up in size with one of our
Lightning models.
Group/Expedition
Trailbreaker Requirements
-
When
Snowshoeing In A Group,
Walk Single-File.
This will pack the trail for
those behind the leader ("trailbreaker") and make
the going easier for them. A designated
lead-person "Trailbreaker", will need the most
flotation, while the group-members follow; typically
requiring smaller snowshoes for the packed trail
the lead person breaks out in the snow.
Provide regular-scheduled relief for the
trailbreaker by rotating the lead-person duty as
necessary.
